Week of May 25th

 

-No School (Memorial Day)

-Bring Talent show costumes on Friday

-I will be having a sub Tuesday-Thursday as I will be chaperoning the 8^th grade trip

 

Spelling Words

We are finished with spelling for the year!  In place of spelling we will review various Lang Arts/Reading skills and cursive writing during this time

 

Reading
We will be reading Stories of Migration. Be aware that your child will be bringing home the take-home-story sometime this week.

 

Math

Two-Dimensional Shapes

Students will be learning about quadrilaterals, angles, along with other vocab that pertains to 2-D shapes.

 

Social Studies

We will be finishing up out neighborhood maps and moving onto landforms.

We will be starting the geometry portion in our Go Math series.

 

Social Studies

-Neighborhood maps

 My students will be constructing a neighborhood map with their group.  They will have to make roads following the cardinal/intermediate directions they have on their compass rose.  They will also construct houses and other buildings to put in their neighborhood.   Students will also be required to measure distance between objects to come up with its actual distance via a map scale.

-Field trip to the Audubon on Thursday the 15th.  Make sure to bring a sack lunch that day and dress accordingly.
