Classroom Activites Feb. 24th-28th

Reading
We will be reading Two Bad Ants.  In language we will be focusing on quotations and expressions when reading/writing.  Please be sure to have your child read 20min every week night. 
 
Math
The students done extremely well with the SBAC tests.  They liked how they could manipulate the shapes and numbers to help them solve the problems.  This week we will be comparing fractions by drawing shapes,number lines, and by numerator and denominator relationships.
 
Social Studies
-Finish map skills test
This week will be starting our 3-d neighborhood map projects. My students will be put into groups and will plot roads, buildings, among other landmarks on a sheet of cardboard.  The students will be required to use symbols on map keys, scaling distances, and tell me directions from one destination to another

We will be reading The Extra-Good Sunday.  In language we will be focusing on quotations and expressions when reading/writing.   Also, we are hoping to read to the kindergartners our Valentine stories we’ve been working on this past week.
Please be sure to have your child read 20min every week night.  I have not seen many reading logs as of late!
 
Math
-Division and Multiplication Review
-We will also be practicing the new SBAC test on the Kunos

Classroom Activites February 10-13


Week of February 9th
 
-Early out Wednesday the 12th
-No school on Feb. 14th, Valentines Day
-Valentine boxes may be brought any day this week, so the kids can begin to hand out valentines
 
Spelling Words
There will be no spelling this week.  In place of spelling we will be focusing on phonics and cursive writing.
 
Reading

We began our fraction unit last week.  Please continue to do flashcards every night until your child has mastered them.
